Turns out JailbreakMe’s run will be short lived. Like abandoned-toy-yorkie short lived.
JailbreakMe relies on a PDF exploit and according to the Associated Press an Apple spokesperson informed them that Apple is “aware of this reported issue and developing a fix that will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.”
Granted the JailbreakMe process uses an exploit that Apple was likely to change anyway, but can’t Cupertino just let us be? Seriously, how long did we patiently (or impatiently) wait for an iPad 2 jailbreak. How much easier could jailbreaking a device be than visiting a website and pushing a button. I sure am glad Apple is “developing a fix that will be available to customers,” though.
Soon it’ll be back to the drawing board when iOS 5 comes out. iPhone users will likely not have to wait very long after iOS 5′s release for a jailbreak, but iPad 2 users could be left out in the cold, cold world or jailbreaklessness for a long time again.
Enjoy it while you can people. Unless of course you choose to never update your firmware again or upgrade to iOS 5. In which case, more power to you.

iPhone Update Clue: AT&T Hints of June
An AT&T policy hints of a possible launch date for the next model of Apple’s iPhone.

So here’s the deal: a lot of folks are predicting there will be a new iPhone this year. Boy Genius Report is adding some fuel to the fire by reporting AT&T has blocked employees from taking vacations in the month of June.

The site cites multiple AT&T sources have confirmed the break-ban and adds, “The only time AT&T does a straight block like this is for iPhone launches.”

Fair enough, but predicting an iPhone update will launch in June or July is kind of like predicting that Thanksgiving will be in November; there’s precedent for it.

The original iPhone was released on June 29, 2007, followed by the iPhone 3G on July 11, 2008; and the iPhone 3G S on June 19, 2009.

Back in December a few sites, including AppleInsider, predicted that Apple’s event would fall on the week of June 28 due to a “Corporate Event” booking at Apple’s typical venue. Already, some images have leaked out that purport to be the next model of iPhone.

If AT&T is, in fact, preventing employees from taking leave in June, it could mean that Apple’s announcement will happen pre-WWDC, or that the December predictions are wrong.

Let’s hope we get official word from Apple soon, or things may get out of hand.
