Much like they did with iClouds system backup service, Apple will be resetting iTunes Match iCloud libraries.
The resetaccording to an email sent out to iTunes Match subscriberswill take place Monday September 26 at 10 a.m. PST. The email also describes the move has become necessary so Apple can improve the services reliability and overall quality. This is likely a one-time occurrence before the official public launch of the service.
Resetting the service means songs not stored on a users hard drive or music devices will be wiped off of Apples servers. Users will need to turn off iTunes Match on all of their computers and iOS devices. Apple is kind enough to remind everyone that as always they shouldnt delete the local versions of their music tracks also found in the cloud.
The reset is likely an effort to clear out all the bad code, mismatched tracks, and any other abnormalities Apple has discovered over the course of the beta. The best par though is the little gift Apple gave beta subscribers. As a token of Apples appreciation they are awarding users an additional three free months of service with their 12-month subscription.

Leading into this weekend, reports surfaced yet again that Apple is supposedly prepping HD movies for availability through iTunes beginning this fall. Speculation surfaced following earlier reports that various entertainment industry giants – including movie studios and TV production companies – are now providing Apple with content in a new and higher-resolution HD format.
Presently, the best quality Apple can offer via iTunes comes in at 720p (1280×720). Clearly, if Apple wants to better compete with the multitude of HD streaming and on-demand video services that will soon flood every nook and cranny of the home entertainment market, the move makes sense.
So, consequently, not withstanding the reports we’re hearing around the blogosphere, perhaps the greatest “evidence” that Apple is going into 1080p HD territory is that it basically has to in order to keep pace with the rest of the industry. And based on the chatter I’ve heard and the sources I’ve connected with, Apple may be ready for this rumored upgrade before the summer comes to a close.
Of course, while everyone is looking to iTunes for the platform that will deliver the higher-res content, let’s not forget about the prospect of a 1080p-ready Apple TV, which, to be perfectly honest, may be something we get before the iPad 3.

Several reports have surfaced that multiple iOS gamers who downloaded a free Chinese-language role playing game called 帝國 Online (the English version of the app is still in beta) have experienced fraudulent activity in their iTunes account – specifically, unauthorized in-app purchases. According to a report from Apple Insider, Apple is now investigating the matter.
Despite relatively decent user ratings, one gamer posted the following: “BEWARE. It will tap your iTunes account $ wise down to nothing. I had $50 in my account and this app on it’s own took $49.00 from my account.” Apple has reportedly refunded the alleged fraudulent in-app purchases claimed by some users. At this time, however, it isn’t clear if the app truly bilked its players out of a decent chunk of change or if the players “didn’t understand” they were making real purchases and not simply playing along with the purchase elements of the game.
While similar incidents have been reported infrequently, Apple only began seeing this variety of problem once it changed its original policy only allowing in-app purchases for paid applications. Now, developers can serve up free apps that sell in-game elements for a fee. As a result, some complaints – possibly including those outlined above – may be the result of gamer confusion. Consequently, gamers concerned with the prospect of being tricked into making real purchases have the option to disable in-app Purchases for their iOS device.

Apple has rewritten the iTunes Movie Trailers page to take advantage of the HTML5 standard that it has been promoting for some time. HTML5 is Apples answer to Adobes Flash. The two companies continue to do battle over which is the superior standard.
By updating its movie trailer page, Apple has once again asserted the benefits of HTML5 in a simple and effective way. Apple has chosen to use HTML5 over Flash because it is an open standard, and Flash makes portable devices slow and almost unusable. Flash was designed for desktop computers, unfortunately, portable device manufacturers are having problems getting it to run smoothly on their products.
The slick new design of the iTunes Movie Trailer page makes it easy to watch movie trailers, then choose local theaters and showtimes, using Google Maps. All content on the page is accessible to every iOS device, as well as every web browser that supports HTML5. From the homepage, you are presented with a grid of different upcoming movies. Most movies get a custom-themed page that captures their tone quite nicely. You can then Get Tickets and the site links you to Fandango.com. If tickets are not available, you will see Ticket Info and be taken to the theaters website instead.
Earlier today, I was in a waiting room and decided to watch a few movie previews. I was only getting two bars of 3G signal on my iPhone 4, but was still able to access the iTunes Movie Trailers site without any glitches. The resolution of the previews was scaled down, but I was pleasantly surprised given the poor reception. I look forward to more websites adopting HTML5 so iPhone owners can stop seeing web pages that ask you to install Flash.

Apple has released iTunes 10 as promised, and is now available for download to the public for Mac and Windows.
iTunes 10 includes Ping, a brand new “social music discovery tool” creates a new experience for iTunes where users can follow their friends and share their favorite music.
It appears that iTunes 10 is Jailbreak safe for now, that is to say that a new Jailbreak tool might not work with iTunes 10, but seeing as there are none out right now that require iTunes, your JailbreakMe.com exploit should be just fine. Musclenerd also informed us that we should be safe as far as DFU Mode, syncing, and custom IPSW’s go, just stay away from iOS 4.1 next week.

If you experience anything out of the norm, let us know.
