One of the most popular publications of all time in the United States, Reader’s Digest, is now available for the iPad.
The app is a wrapper of the magazine that allows the user to download full issues of the magazine that can be flipped through, as if the user were reading the magazine. Every issue includes all the editorial content that is available in the print version, and the app also includes special interactive content, available exclusively for the iPad, including slide shows, videos, and interactive polls.
February’s issue should include even more iPad-specific content, including automatically updating pages called the ‘Daily Digest’ which includes content from the magazine’s website. Each issue will be available as a $3.99 in-app purchase, which is much more expensive than the $10 per year currently offered for the print version. It’s also quite different than digital subscription plans, such as the one recently implemented in the UK by The Guardian.
You can download the free app now, which includes a preview copy of next month’s issue, giving the user a taste of how to use the app, and how to navigate the magazine via the iPad. We’ll see if the magazine sells a significant amount of digital copies, even though it’s priced as much as four times the amount of the print version.

GV Mobile, an incredibly popular Google Voice App that we once saw on Cydia, has made it’s way back into the AppStore. Yesterday we discussed the return of Google Voice and GV Connect, one of the first GV apps to get approved, however, what I’m sure most of us were waiting for was GV Mobile+, by Sean Kovac.
GV Mobile, the Cydia version, allowed for SMS support, voicemail, and a few other obvious features. However, now with GV Mobile+ being back in the AppStore, there are a ton of new features added to GV Mobile, including the ability to actually make phonecalls through GV directly on your iDevice.
The Apps is available for $2.99 for the first week of sales, and there will be one night that Sean offers the App for free. So keep your eyes peeled! Remember, his blog can be found here and you can follow him on twitter, @seankovacs.

Download GV Mobile+ today.

iTunes 10 Now Available For Download : Jailbreak Safe

Apple has released iTunes 10 as promised, and is now available for download to the public for Mac and Windows.
iTunes 10 includes Ping, a brand new “social music discovery tool” creates a new experience for iTunes where users can follow their friends and share their favorite music.
It appears that iTunes 10 is Jailbreak safe for now, that is to say that a new Jailbreak tool might not work with iTunes 10, but seeing as there are none out right now that require iTunes, your JailbreakMe.com exploit should be just fine. Musclenerd also informed us that we should be safe as far as DFU Mode, syncing, and custom IPSW’s go, just stay away from iOS 4.1 next week.

If you experience anything out of the norm, let us know.

iOS 4.1 GM has been released to official Apple Developers, and to our delight it includes the mentioned HDR support for Photos.
Aside from all the bug fixes, this is an addition we are looking forward to. As Michael reported, Apple is adding the new HDR (high dynamic range) standard to photos, an addition that apparently takes “photo quality to a whole new level”. All of which is included in the newly released GM.
If your a registered Developer and don’t have to worry about jailbreaking, head on over to your Dev Center and Download iOS 4.1 GM today.
If your not a Developer, don’t be messing around with this.
