Turns out JailbreakMe’s run will be short lived. Like abandoned-toy-yorkie short lived.
JailbreakMe relies on a PDF exploit and according to the Associated Press an Apple spokesperson informed them that Apple is “aware of this reported issue and developing a fix that will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.”
Granted the JailbreakMe process uses an exploit that Apple was likely to change anyway, but can’t Cupertino just let us be? Seriously, how long did we patiently (or impatiently) wait for an iPad 2 jailbreak. How much easier could jailbreaking a device be than visiting a website and pushing a button. I sure am glad Apple is “developing a fix that will be available to customers,” though.
Soon it’ll be back to the drawing board when iOS 5 comes out. iPhone users will likely not have to wait very long after iOS 5′s release for a jailbreak, but iPad 2 users could be left out in the cold, cold world or jailbreaklessness for a long time again.
Enjoy it while you can people. Unless of course you choose to never update your firmware again or upgrade to iOS 5. In which case, more power to you.

*video is dramatic prediction of a fake future where life doesn’t suck
Apple filed their own suit against Samsung with the International Trade Commission yesterday. This comes after Samsung filed a similar complaint with the ITC last week. Or was it the week before?
Honestly, these estranged lovers can only beat on one another so much before the divorce lawyers get involved.
Apple’s suit is seeking an injunction to prevent Samsung from importing Android phones and tablets into the U.S. The complaint cites five utility patents and two design patents that apply to six Samsung smartphones and two tablets. Basically Apple is calling Samsung a copycat:

All of this legal ill-will and corporate lawyer jujitsu spells doom for the Apple-Samsung love affair. It was fun while it lasted, but like all highly visible celebrity marriages Apple and Samsung are destined to fail. My only mission is to figure out how Jesse James is involved in all this.

Amazon announced today that they would be upgrading their Cloud Drive online music service in three distinct ways. Amazon will offer storage plans that include unlimited space for music, free storage of MP3s purchased through Amazon and support for the iPad with their Cloud Player for the web.
Now, for a limited time, Amazon customers who purchase a Cloud Drive storage plan will receive unlimited space for their MP3 and AAC (.m4a) music files. Any music not purchase though Amazon MP3 will have to be manually uploaded to the site. With plans starting at $20 a month for 20GB of storage space, Apples iTunes Match service may be a better deal at $25 a year for some people. Amazon has yet to revealed how long this unlimited offer will be available.
It would appear that Amazon is beefing up its cloud based music service ahead of the launch of Apples iCloud in the fall. With the latest upgrade, Customers can now store all of their Amazon MP3 purchases for free in Cloud Drive, including future MP3 purchases as well as all purchases made before the launch of Cloud Drive and Cloud Player. None of the music purchased through Amazon MP3 will count against a users total amount of storage capacity. Previously, Cloud Drive would count all music files against the total storage limit, including music purchased through Amazon.
Although Apple has yet to launch iCloud officially, they have already implemented some of the same features that Amazon now offers. Currently, iTunes lets you re-download any song that youve already purchased, to any device that you own. When iCloud is released in the fall, Amazons Cloud Drive service may not look as appealing to some customers.
Amazons third new feature is Cloud Player for iPad. Amazon has decided to forgo Apples App Store in favor of a web based music player. This makes sense for them because Apple has no reason to approve an app that will directly compete with iTunes and iCloud. Currently, iOS devices can listen to music through Safari, but the process is less than elegant. With a dedicated Cloud Player for iPad, streaming music will be a much more enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the iPhone and iPod Touch will have to wait for the next upgrade to enjoy the native web player. Hopefully, we wont have to wait too long.

From a business standpoint it just makes sense. That’s the logic behind Citadel Securities analyst Shing Yin’s estimate that the next-gen iPhone will call Sprint home before the end of 2011. With AT&T and Verizon now sharing the carrier stage in the US, Apple is likely profoundly interested in expanding to the nation’s third-largest wireless provider.
Sprint, which – like Verizon – runs the CDMA network, can easily be added to Apple’s domestic carrier list – a move that stands to benefit all parties (except, maybe, AT&T and Verizon). We believe Sprint could capture more than its fair share of iPhone sales,” Yin writes, “especially if it gets the new model at the same time as AT&T and Verizon.
The insightful Citadel Securities analyst believes the iPhone carrier expansion to Sprint is “increasingly likely,” especially considering that with the inauguration of Verizon Communications tiered pricing for data tomorrow. “Sprint will be the sole remaining national carrier with an unlimited data plan offering, something desirable to Apple.”
All told, a Sprint iPhone could be a relatively stronger seller than the Verizon iPhone, Yin speculates. “With lower prices on plans, a Sprint iPhone could offer an attractive proposition for more price-conscious users (a demographic that we think is increasingly important to Apple following the rise of Android), a report from Barron’s noted.

Practice makes perfect is a common saying for a menagerie of examples. When it comes to typing, whether on your computer or iDevice, the only way to get better is to practice often. Figuring out the touch pad at first can be a little difficult however after toying with your device for a while, you can be a proficient user. You may look at someone you know (your friends, family, or some random person) and think to yourself “Wow they’re amazingly fast at texting, tweeting, etc.” Or you may think you’ve gotten good enough to be a pro typer. However, have you ever imagined someone typing the entire alphabet on an iDevice (iPad) in less then 10 seconds?
Mikheil Saakashvili, son of the president of Georgia (Eastern Europe country), recently set a new record for the fastest typer on the iPad. He was able to type the entire alphabet with one hand in 5.26 seconds. This was a a 1.05 seconds improvement over the previous record holder, British teen Charlie Joseph McDonnell. McDonnell has held his title since 2010 (6.31 seconds was previous record). The Guinness Book of World Records awarded Saakashvili a plaque to signify the legitimacy of the record. A feat of this nature is absolutely insane; share your thoughts!
