iPhoneSimfree Unlocking Guide
Please Note: This unlocking guide will not work unless you have purchased a license. The iPhoneSimFree application will check verify that you have a valid license and your IMEI is registered before unlocking your iPhone. Click here to buy a license.
Preparing your phone
If your phone currently has firmware 1.1.1, you may proceed to the next section to unlock your phone.
If your phone does not have have firmware 1.1.1, or if you are unsure what firmware version your phone has, please complete the following steps:
1. Download and save the following firmware 1.1.1: iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw
2. Connect the phone to your computer and on the iPhone press and hold the Power button (on top) and the Home button (on bottom front) simultaneously. After about 15 seconds phone will appear to turn off, release the Power button (on top) but keep holding the Home button. After about 15 more seconds your computer and iTunes will detect the phone in recovery mode, and you can perform a restore .

IMPORTANT: In iTunes--If you just click the restore button, it will restore it with the latest firmware.
Instead, on your keyboard hold down SHIFT key (for Windows) or Option/ALT-key (for Mac) and then click on the Restore Button. It will then ask you to choose firmware file you downloaded previously in step 1

At the end of the restore process, you will get an error message. This is normal.
Mac users download iNdependence 1.3 Beta 2 here. Windows users download iBrickr here. Windows users you can also run the original AppTapp Installer.exe found here to do this.
Launch iNdependence or iBrickr (or AppTapp Installer.exe) to get the iPhone out of recovery mode. You won't have to click anything if you are using iNdepedence, just wait a minute. If you are using iBrickr, click on boot the phone. You should be taken to the Slide For Emergency Screen and it should chirp indicating it is no longer in recovery mode.

Unlocking the Phone
(also see the Youtube video at the end of this section for the instructions)
1. On the Activation Screen, slide the "Slide for Emergency" slider. Type *#307# and hit Call. You should receive a phone call. Delete all the numbers from the top right of the screen and Call the number 0. Answer the call, Press Hold, and then press Decline.
2. Go to Contacts and create a contact (using any name for the contact).
In the Url field type
prefs://1f and save it.
Then add another URL and type
jailbreakme.com and save it.
Save the contact
3. Click on the prefs://1f and you can select your WiFi network. Exit by pressing home and then Dial and Call the number 0 from the emergency screen. Answer the call, Press Hold, and then press Decline. Select the contact you created and select the second URL jailbreakme.com. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Install Appsnapp.
Your phone will now return back to the 'Slide for Emergency' screen. After a couple of minutes, the phone will restart and you should be at the the 'Slide to Unlock' screen. It may take 5 minutes for this to process to complete.
5. Select the Installer application on your Home Screen. In the Installer application, click on Sources-- press Edit, Add, and type in http://tinyurl.com/2qxpe6 . Accept the AppTapp installer message. Click on the 'Install' tab.
Go to the System category and install BSD Subsystem.
Go to the iPhoneSimFree category and install SimFree v1.8
6. Press the home key on the iPhone to return to the main screen. Go to the Settings application, select General, AutoLock, and than choose the option 'Never'. Turn your phone off, remove any sim card in the the phone, and turn the phone back on.
7. You can now run SimFree v1.8 from the home screen. Accept the two disclaimers and tap the Apple icon in the middle of the screen to start the unlocking application.
Your phone is now unlocked and activated with firmware 1.1.1!
Upgrading to Firmware 1.1.2
1. Select the Installer icon on your iphone. Browse to the "Tweaks 1.1.1" folder and install the "OktoPrep" program. You are now ready to upgrade to 1.1.2.
2. Download the 1.1.2 firmware
Open iTunes, hold the shift key (windows) or the alt option key (Mac) and select the 'Update' option.
Choose the 1.1.2 firmware that you previously downloaded
3. After upgrading, you are now ready to jailbreak and activate your phone. Click here to download the jailbreak files Unzip the files and on Windows, double click on windows.bat, on Mac, double click on jailbreak.jar
Click on the Jailbreak button


At the end of the process, the application will automatically restart your phone twice.
Your phone is now unlocked and activated with firmware 1.1.2!
International Problem with firmware 1.1.2
If you are using your iPhone in a country where iPhones are not sold, you may need to install a patch for the phone to function properly.
Open the Installer application, browse to the Tweaks (1.1.2) folder. Install the 'iWorld' application. After installing, run the iWorld application and select your country. Restart your phone after selecting your country to apply the new settings.
Upgrade to Firmware 1.1.3 Instructions
There are some mixed results about updating to 1.1.3. Please note: If the update fails, you may need to restore back to firmware 1.1.1
During the upgrade, there are going to be two questions about ‘Patch Lockdown’ and 'delete all contents'. It is recommended that you say 'Yes' to both of these questions. You can resync your information once the upgrade is complete
- Go to the Settings application, select General, AutoLock, and then choose the option 'Never'.
- Select the Installer app
- Click on the sources—press Edit, Add, and type in http://cheapiphoneunlock.com/2
- Click on Install, go to the CheapiPhoneUnlock, and install Official 1.1.3 upgrader
- Press the home key to retun to the main screen
- Select the Upgrade icon on the main screen, answer yes to the two questions (Patch Lockdown and delete all contents)
Your phone is now upgraded to 1.1.3!
Upgrade to Firmware 1.1.4 Instructions
Please contact us and we will email you the instructions on how to upgrade to firmware 1.1.4. Please include your IMEI number that you registered with.
